Trophic Levels

Trophic Levels- The successive levels of organisms consuming one another.

Primary Consumers- Consumers that eat producers . AKA Herbivores.

Secondary Consumers- Carnivores that eat primary consumers.

Tertiary Consumers- Carnivores that  eat secondary consumers.

Consumers (Heterotrophs)- Eat other organisms.

Scavengers- Organisms that consume dead animals.

Detritivores- Organisms that specialize in breaking down dead tissues and waste products into smaller particles.

Decomposers- Fungi and bacteria that complete the breakdown process by converting organic matter into small elements and molecules that can be recycled back into the ecosystem.

Omnivors operate at several trophic

levels.
